any agent
These are the six things we can support with public information. Use them on any agent you are considering, including us.
- Third-party list position, with its date. A position is a snapshot. Ask which list, which sort order, and when it was checked.
- Reviews you can open. Look for named reviewers and dates on Google, Zillow, Realtor.com, Yelp or RateMyAgent, not quotes on the agent's own site.
- Recent closed sales in your town or neighborhood. Ask for addresses and which side (buyer or seller) the agent represented, then match them to public records.
- A published market method. Does the agent say where the numbers come from, the sale window and the sample size?
- The language you need. If you want contracts and inspections explained in Mandarin or Japanese, ask who will actually do the explaining.
- Practice in your town, not just advertising. Count closings in your town over the last 12 months, not the size of the brokerage.
